‘Virtue-oso’: Tim Winkeler

Rock stars aren’t born — they’re made. It takes the right ingredients to become a star, and for Tim Winkeler, president and CEO of VIP Tires & Service, those qualities boil down to a few key virtues: a willingness to listen, faith and discipline.

Although Winkeler runs the show at VIP Tires & Service, he’ll be the first to tell you that the company’s success is a team effort. So when he makes decisions for the company, he first asks employees what they think would be best. For instance, one internal staff survey changed how VIP Tires & Service handles ASE certification reimbursement as an employee benefit. Watch the video below to learn more.

Of course, central to Winkeler’s life is faith. Winkeler is a devout Catholic, and his faith has shaped him so much that he’s on the path to becoming a deacon. Learn more about this journey in the video below.

Finally, in order to reach the top, Winkeler believes that discipline is mandatory. One of the books VIP Tires & Service has built its leadership courses around is called “Extreme Ownership” by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. GENERAL GUIDELINES AND SUGGESTIONS FOR COMPLETEING AND SUBMITTING THE NOMINATION FORM FOR VEHICLE CARE ROCKSTARS

Qualities that make today’s RockStars

Following are just a few tips to consider. A nominator may submit any content they choose, and content may be any length or format. Following are some topics a nominator may want to touch upon.

  • Contributions to their field, for generating business, or for sourcing and executing upon ideas.
  • Challenges faced and how they are being met.
  • Details of companies, products, major customers, or transformations involved with.
  • Risk-taking initiatives to realize vision, courage, agility, or ability to fight the odds.
  • Commitment to an organization and to inspiring purpose and vision.
  • Creation of culture and value systems and inspiration of such within an organization.
  • Creation of a business model which demonstrates a clear vision and sustained capacity for creativity and innovation.
  • Success with attracting, developing and retaining a diverse mix of talent within an organization.
  • Efforts and involvements positively impacting customers.

USE OF INFORMATION

Information and materials provided with nominations on behalf of a nominee will be used by Babcox Media, Inc. and the Vehicle Care RockStars Selection Committee in conjunction with the Vehicle Care RockStars award program for the purposes of evaluating the nomination and creating a press release and other promotional media for selected winners. The preparer of this nomination form consents to the use of such information for these purposes and hereby confirms and represents that all necessary authorizations and consents have been received for such uses.

 

INFORMATION/BACKGROUND CHECKS

The preparer of a nomination form understands, authorizes and agrees that, in connection with participation in the Vehicle Care RockStars award program, that Babcox Media, Inc. and the Selection Committee may seek information about the nominee to confirm or supplement information within a nomination form by researching publicly available sources (including, without limitation, information available on social media, or the internet generally), and by other available sources and means.

 

RELEASE

In consideration of participation in The Vehicle Care RockStars award program, all nominees and nominators hereby release and forever discharge Babcox Media, Inc. and its agents and partners involved with The Vehicle Care RockStars award program from any and all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any nature arising out of or in any way connected to nominees participation in The Vehicle Care RockStars award program including (without any limitation) any information or materials submitted in connection with nominee’s participation in the awards program; any information/background research conducted in connection with nominee’s participation in any related events, ceremonies or promotional activities related to the program and/or nominee’s participation therein; and the determinations of the Selection Committee with respect to this nomination and/or nominee’s recognition or participation in the program.
